Notes:

To the anon that wanted warnings on .gif secrets: I'm not sure how I could effectively implement that. For triggery or spoilery secrets, one could just not read the text, but for .gifs by the time you get to the warning, it's already moving in your field of vision. If you have a suggestion as to how it could be done without just linking the secret (it's not breaking any rules or containing porn or gore, so that wouldn't be fair), let me know. Putting it in the notes for now.

16 is a .gif, by the way.

It's exactly the time and place for it. People call bs or troll on secrets all the time. This one isn't an exception.

There are times when it really isn't appropriate to do so. I think this is one of those times.

Fair enough as an opinion -- it just seemed to me that it was being said the comment shouldn't have been made, as if there is some unwritten rule. Basically, I see it as a don't like, scroll down situation. Some people may want to discuss the secret and this is meant as the place for it.

Here's the difference:

Calling BS on that secret from yesterday about the person who doesn't like cats, saying they're just out to get more cat .gifs, doesn't actually hurt anyone. It's discussion, as you say. Even if the OP really meant it, they are at risk of nothing more than mild irritation at not being believed.

Calling BS on this secret, where someone is expressing trauma and distress over having inadvertently seen a video of a real rape, carries the risk of compounding that person's pain and distress if the secret is sincere. OP expressed feelings of shame and guilt over their experience, and calling them a liar is only going to exacerbate those feelings. Thus, that kind of "discussion" is unproductive and inappropriate. This is generally considered to be the case in any situation where a person shares an experience involving abuse, trauma, or non-consensual sexual situations. It's considered appropriate to give people the benefit of the doubt when they talk about those things happening, because it's really shitty not to be believed and it happens all too often.
