Notes:
To the anon that wanted warnings on .gif secrets: I'm not sure how I could effectively implement that. For triggery or spoilery secrets, one could just not read the text, but for .gifs by the time you get to the warning, it's already moving in your field of vision. If you have a suggestion as to how it could be done without just linking the secret (it's not breaking any rules or containing porn or gore, so that wouldn't be fair), let me know. Putting it in the notes for now.

Re: Tumblr Makes No Sense - an assortment of woes
(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 04:51 am (UTC)(link)I understand that fandom is changing, but I wish it wasn't. Especially given the way tumblr operates. Maybe in the future someone will come up with some sort of social media site just for fans? It can take the best points of tumblr, LJ/DW and AO3. *shrug* Keep dreaming, self.
And while I do enjoy lurking, I feel like it's time I make a fandom presence for myself (which does involve making a DW account sometime!). Which is kind of why I would like to have one centralised tumblr for any fics I may feel like posting and stuff. Which does open me up to to the risk of being found by my friend. :/
And it's not like I want to give personal information - it's just that I'm pretty close with her. So far she knows most of my fandoms, my ships for the fandoms she shares, and one word I really like that I've used in my username. (...Okay, that one is my fault.)

As for the social media site thing, I'd be cool with it. It might happen one day! I imagine no one expected tumblr to happen either, but here we are.
And tbh I miss the glory days of LJ too, and I'm enjoying DW even if I only frequent fs, but tumblr is not my preferred platform either. I like it for how easy it is to find art and gifs, but not for much more than that.
