Sorry it turns you off though. I thought the fact that he'd been married and had a kid was actually pretty cool, and loved that storyline. For some people it's entirely possible to love again after a situation like that, so Shep and Thane's relationship never bothered me; his love seemed genuine to me.

Don't agree about the kid part personally (especially since Koylat, I mean, wannabee Dustil was pretty much an adult), but I always did wonder about the drell afterlife situation. Afterlife OT3?

I adore Thane (and Garrus) and there are really only two things that keep me from romancing the drell. First off, he's dying. I don't want my Shep to get all sexy times with a dude that's going to die. Second off, that means I can't romance Garrus and if I can't romance Garrus then that means he'll end up with Tali in the 3rd game and then who is my Shepard left with on the eve of battle?

I didn't even know you could romance him when I played through. He's just so weird, I didn't even consider it, haha.

I've romanced Thane, and the only thing I don't like about it is how his romance is treated in ME3. (not the fact that he uh, dies, just HOW it's all handled.) Left a sour taste in my mouth. And then I romanced Garrus in my other run...

I do agree with the other comments that his flashbacks are a tad creepy though.

I was just never interested in Thane's personality.
I wouldn't get into a relationship with someone in real life that had a previous wife or kids, though.

Garrus just always seemed to have much more appeal and chemistry with Shepard. Although I'd also romance Wrex, Javik, Legion, and Mordin if given the ability. Even if I ship Shepard and Garrus pretty strongly canonically.

So, what? Are people not allowed to ever date or fall in love with anyone ever again after a spouse dies? Or are you just so self-involved that you can't deal with a person having loved someone enough to marry them before meeting you?

I would have romanced him, but all of Shepard's pick-up lines are so embarrassingly awful that I just don't romance anyone at all. 8(
