Sounds cool to me. I love world-building fics. I mean, most people enjoy world-building so long as you get to the sex EVENTUALLY, delayed pleasure and all ... *shrugs*
Write it for yourself, post it, and see what happens.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is this a secret? Because you don't want it to be over-the-top porny?

Oh come on. That sounds like an awesome idea, and especially for the Scott Stiles friendship. I am totally behind the idea of gen a/b/o fics.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
God I hate alpha/omega fics. I'm glad that the fandom has very few of them.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Likewise. In this fandom I find them even more annoying than in others, because the show already has one alpha/beta dynamic going on and shoehorning another one in just makes it a complete mess.

Me too. I feel bad, because obviously I don't have to read them (and I don't) but it's just one of those things I don't get.

If it helps, I'm not in the fandom and I'd totes read that. I love alpha/omega fics that focus on the world building!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
TBO, the only reason I read a/o/b fics is for the world building. The sex part, with the self-lubing assholes and mpreg really gross me out.

Just here to aww at the hug picture, ignore me.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
There are people who don't read fics for porn. They tend to get drowned out by shippers, but they do exist. I'm sure they would really appreciate this.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I would love to read this. I love world building fics and not so much with the sex. Scott and Stiles friendship fics for the win.

Also, if you want to write it, do so. Someone, somewhere, will probably enjoy it. And if not, if it's a story you want, so why not make it just the way you want it? I oftentimes write because it's a story that I want to see, and I get enjoyment from reading it later, and I find that other readers will like it too. Maybe I don't get as many hits/comments as the Sterek romance writers, but I don't really mind. It just means my fic is out there for someone else who might be looking for exactly what it is.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
This would be the only kind of a/b/o fic I would read. I'm not a fan of the porn personally, but world-building stories are so hard to find. Anyway, I'm not the only one: there are people who want the porn, and people who want the world-building.

If you're worried about getting the wrong side of the a/b/o crowd, just don't write the porn and post the rating. A PG-13 would get people like me and not the people who want the sex. :)

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, the most interesting part of what you described is that you'll be world building.

There's lots of world building fans! We come out of the woodwork when we realise you're not going to up and disappear. :D

There have been a few secrets about wanting to see Omegaverse for the world building I think one wanted a "bloody revolution".

A bunch of people seemed to agree with those.

So I think you would have a large audience unless by 'help' you mean 'bone', in which case you'd just be going down the porn route. Which would gain you the main Omegaverse crowd but lose you the crowd that wants the world building.

Good luck.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
tbh, I would be so excited for "world-building, society, and friendship", but the "oh, and it's alpha/beta/omega" would be enough for me to avoid it entirely. Wouldn't even give it a shot, not even if there was no sex at all, because of the alpha/omega crap.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
This is exactly what I've been expecting ever since I got to the part in TW where alpha, beta, and omega are ACTUAL CLASSIFICATIONS that the characters can have. Was not surprised at all when I went on AO3 and discovered so much knotting fic. SPN fandom has really done a number on TW fic culture.

I don't like omega!verse because it's just an excuse to write more porn (and seriously, self-lubbbing assholes creep the fuck out of me).
Your version sounds great though. I'd love to read about the development of that kind of society, and not just another NC-17 "we are fucking everywhere and everytime" fanfic.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-04 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really more into fics that do a good job overall at creating a believable world than jumping into the sex. There's plenty of short stuff focused on that.

I do get where you're coming from though. I poured my heart and sole into the one fic I've put up there. It took me two months to write, and since it's been posted it's have over 350 views but only one review (and from one of my friends at that). It is hard to get attention to a fic without pairings listed or as the main focus.

People would read it. Really, they would. Go ahead.

I think for a/b/o, a lot of people read it for the worldbuilding as well as/instead of the porn.

In any case, write it! I'm sure you'll have a pretty sizeable audience.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-04 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love to read that, and judging from the comments, a lot of people would, too!

The only thing is if you're even considering making it Sterek, make sure to at least note it somewhere in the beginning. Even in a quick AN, and you're just saying that you're considering it. A lot of people would get pissed if they read 40 chapters of plotty fic only to encounter a ship they don't like. Noting it somewhere helps with that.

[personal profile] papercute 2012-11-04 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
I would totally read this, I love alpha/omega dynamics. If it's actually plotty then all the better. The (far off sterek) ending would be the cherry on top. Not enough A/O fics in this fandom in my opinion. But coming from xmfc, the more the better? If its not your thing then ignore. Duh.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-05 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I say go for it! I'd read it.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-05 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
I have a not-so-secret love for a/b/o fics that focus on world building. Seriously, you should totally write this. I don't even care what the pairing is, just make the world all awesome and detailed and I will be there with bells on.
