Effects of smoking joints

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello Fandomsecrets!
Could any of you gentlemen please tell me the effects of smoking joints? I have never tried, but would kind of like to, just to know what it's like. I just have no idea what to even expect from it.

You get high.

The effects of getting high depends on how high you get, what you smoke, and who you are. But it's kind of... it takes the rough edges off, your mind feels kind of soft and slow, things seem more humorous and more interesting and also more chill. I think that's the main effect. Sometimes other things happen. Sometimes I get super paranoid and freak out. That's not fun when it happens. I don't know, it really depends. I'd say it's worth trying for yourself, just to see what it's like.

Also, if you ever want information on psychoactive substances, Erowid is a great resource: http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/psychoactives.shtml

I have never tried either, but you could check out Erowid.com's page on cannabis? Scroll down to 'experiences' and there's a bunch of first-hand reports. ETA: okay beaten to it!

(I use it for researching drug use scenes in stories etc, btw. xD)

Erowid hive-mind.

(It's such a useful site. Read some of the DMT trip reports sometime. that shit is crazy.)

Puts me straight to sleep. I just get really drowsy, and my reaction times are much slower. I've seen other people get giggly/hungry and was told I would too but that's never been the case for me. Just tired.

On the occasions that smoking weed actually did anything for me at all (about 50% of the time), it made my entire body tingle pleasantly, took my pain away temporarily (which is no small feat, I'll tell you that for free), made me hungry and made food taste/smell more delicious, and gave me a general sense of peace and an eagerness to discuss philosophical issues. Plus watching movies and playing games was like, 50% more awesome. I had to give the stuff up a long while back because of reasons, but if it ever becomes legal in my state, well, I think you can guess.

I fall asleep. It's very anticlimatic.

I just, bounce off the walls for 15 minutes tops about nonsense, lay down and fall asleep.

I got horny and paranoid.

I wanted to do stuff but was convinced somebody was gonna find out. Or find out I was high.

Things were also much funnier.

It really depends on who you are. It's kind of unpredictable.

I have a friend who, pretty much, the only thing that happens to him when he gets high is that he gets insanely argumentative about philosophical issues. He's already kind of argumentative and likes to talk about philosophy (as do I, so it usually works out) but when he's high he will DEMAND to know what you think beauty is, or something, and then start picking holes in your argument and never stop. It's pretty funny, to me. I have another friend who just gets incredibly introverted and quiet when he gets high. He just clams up and refuses to talk. Personally, I mostly either get very relaxed or incredibly paranoid and anxious.

But yeah. It depends on you and also on circumstances.

So only the gentlemen are allowed to answer?

That aside - it depends. I get motion sickness in a rocking chair or if i spin around too fast. Marijuana made me light-headed, which made me dizzy, which gave me motion sickness and an intense sick headache (pounding head + wanting to puke).

Me and chemicals don't mix.

If you have weird/out of proportion/strong reactions to pain meds or other chemicals, you should consider that and go slow. It might not bother you at all, but then - it just might.

As the first anon said, it depends. Pretty much had the extremes on positive (had a lot of fun, best sex ever, chill as fuck) and negative (though I was going to die, was begging to be taken to the hospital, paranoid).

My advice it to be careful and maybe have a babysitter (a sober buddy) the first time.

I have never tried, but would kind of like to, just to know what it's like.

You don't need to do it, anon. It's not a bonding tool, a necessary part of maturing, or an invaluable life experience.

Gives me the most awful headaches. I don't get high, I get headaches, and then I get really irritable. So, no, not worth my time.

Differs for everyone. Me, I get all mellow and am fairly sure I am more likely to talk about stupid shit. I don't get the munchies more than normal, because I'm just about always snacking on things anyway. It evens me out, I guess. Kinda nice.

I smoked a few times in college but it did very little for me. It just made my head fuzzy (and not really in the fun way) and a couple of times I thought I was going to die.

Then I got Meniere's and tried smoking it again and it just made the tinnitus MUCH worse and I haven't smoked it since.

Re: Effects of smoking joints

Back when I used to smoke weed I would get paranoid for about an hour (like, constantly glancing out the windows through the blinds looking for cops paranoid), then I would spend what felt like three hours smoking a single cigarette (seriously, the time distortion effect is so freakin' weird), then stare at the TV (not watch because I couldn't keep up with whatever it was that was happening) while eating my way through a whole bowl of brownie mix and listen to my brother say the deepest shit ever (which once I sobered back up I realized was actually the STUPIDEST shit ever).

Then I would either slowly come back to my senses or pass out. If I'd consumed any alcohol prior to and/or while high passing out was much more likely.

Yeah, don't really miss it.

I get the munchies. And going to a casino is kind of really trippy.

Or I'll just get tired/lazy. I've had the whole paranoia thing, but not to the extreme or anything.

I've only smoked pot once, but I did not find it that different from getting drunk, not different enough to justify the legal risks. But I'm a slow and cuddly drunk, so maybe it's just me.

Re: Effects of smoking joints

(Anonymous) 2012-11-04 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I used to fall asleep and my ex would get paranoid. We were so much fun at parties.

Re: Effects of smoking joints

(Anonymous) 2012-11-04 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
My sense of time gets slowed down, I feel myself lazily smiling and can't concentrate on things people are saying, because I'm very caught up in something completely inconsequential like the throbbing in my tooth or the movement of the "no signal" box on my tv. I get pretty horny (high masturbation is great, never tried high sex) and agitated, my leg bounces like mad. I get hungry.

I'm not a productive high person at all, unlike my sister. I also get pretty paranoid, so I generally don't like it as much as getting drunk.

I don't smoke but I have lived with a few that do and they get very chatty Cathy. Almost in the same way that drunk people might.

Also my male friend would say don't smoke joints you waste the stuff. Use a pipe.
