Which types of secrets do you like to read here?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Apart from those that are about your fandoms, of course.
I never tire of seeing secrets about characters/people that inspired the OP in some way.
How 'bout you guys?

I personally absolutely adore funny!secrets and interesting!secrets. I like when there's something to discuss, some question without any obvious answer and many possible opinions.

Also: secrets about classics and history/philosophy RPF. Sometimes it makes me sad how "Glee", "Sherlock" and whatnot get tons of secrets posted, while G.K. Chesterton gets ZERO (or maybe one).

Ooooh me too, I love classic lit secrets. I saw one for Frankenstein once and it made my week.

Oh, shit yes, anon, I agree with all of this. Classics secrets really do not come around enough, which is not that surprising I guess considering that what secrets are made is a function of what's popular online and welp. But I'm always happy when I see one.

Make some Chestersecrets, anon. I'll definitely be interested, even if no one else is.

I've made one (and I strongly suspect that it was the only one of its kind in the entire history of f!s), but I definitely have some classic stuff for secrets which I'm going to post :)

Btw, the "Chestersecret" word is absolutely hilarious.

Oh that's awesome, anon. I'm excited.

And, btw, I'd love to read at least one secret for my fandom, because so far the only person who posts them (and has ever posted) is me myself. Which feels quite silly.

Yeah, fandoms-of-one can suck sometimes. I posted a secret once and one person commented on it :P

I posted one and got two comments, one of which was posted in the wrong place so I couldn't find it at first. I took it philosophically but I still wouldn't mind finding more fans.

I like secrets where people realize something as an adult about a canon that they never even thought of as a child. I can't think of a specific example, but I know it's happened, and one of my favorite things is the comment threads where people are like "OMG, I just realized that now!" and "I remember when I realized that, it was INSANE!" The communal discovery is nice.

Also I like "You're the X to my Y" when it's about friendships. Like, "You're the Troy to my Abed" or something.

Things that challenge the status quo in their fandoms, prompt discussion...wank.

I like reading "personal headcanon" secrets, they're usually interesting. The cracktastic headcanons that make a strange amount of sense are the best.

My faves are always the funny ones, especially when the OP made some ridiculous connection or headcanon or a work/character influenced their behavior in some strange little way. :)

Haha I was just thinking (before I read GC) how I was going to post a secret about my favourite secrets in F!S then I read this thread....You Have Been Warned F!S.... *ominous music*

- Secrets about obscure fandoms and things that don't really have fandoms at all.
- Secrets about historical RPF.
- Blatant troll secrets (because they're funny).
- Secrets like #11, where the OP makes a silly cartoon instead of just slapping some text on a picture.

Really, really angry/hateful ones. Because they tend to lead to wank and I love me some wank <3

Do y'all remember the one with the grainy picture of the house and the text was something like "I wish fandom was like it used to be"? Some of my favorite secrets are actually secret-fail because the comments are priceless!!! You guys are so clever when we have to "make up" the fandom for the secret.

I like the 'inspired by' secrets, too. I am a total softy and hearing about people who were inspired by something innocuous makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Crossover headcanon secrets are fun too.
