Yup. I resisted Doctor Who for years before falling down the unending rabbit hole, and in the end I was only sucked in through fairly low-key, no-pressure weekend watchalong nights.

And the more people scream bloody murder when I admit I haven't watched Buffy or Firefly and try to forcibly sit me down with it, the more I kind of secretly hate Joss Whedon. (Okay not really, because Avengers was pretty excellent, but for Avengers I had the benefit of not having heard all the best bits of dialogue repeated fifty times in front of me.)

Ugh, I'm sorry. I know that exact feeling far too well. I don't actually watch a lot of TV, and what I watch [with the exception of Leverage] is usually a good 4+ years old. So I've gotten a *lot* of that 'Omg, you have watched X? How could you not have!' treatment.

I actually got the 'You are watching this if I must sit on you!' treatment about Dr. Who...and I'll admit, I'm not completely sure I ever will watch it because of that. [Okay, I'm also horribly stubborn but shhh! That's a secret ;D]

I just don't know why people seem to be convinced that trying to make someone watch something will actually work. @_@

I feel you about Whedon. Yes, I am a science geek. Yes, I like Star Trek and Mass Effect. NO, I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT FUCKING FIREFLY OR SEE YOUR SHOCKED FACE WHEN I SAY I HAVEN'T WATCHED IT.

I refused to watch Firefly for years because I hated the episodes of Buffy I watched so much. I don't know how many times people have tried to shove Once More With Feeling down my throat.

But then I just got hooked with Firefly in 2008 or something like that. I still think a vast majority of the Browncoats are COMPLETELY CUCKOO, though.

ARE YOU ME

I find it funny that a lot of people are into geeky shows and books and resent that people try to shove American Idol and Big Brother down their throats and say they are the best things ever, but then they do the same thing with big geek fandoms. Where do I go when I don't jizz in my pants over Whedon and Sherlock?
