1: Uh, excuse me, what? Life is only meaningful if it's happy? Oh, okay, so everybody who was miserable and sacrificed themselves for a cause lived a meaningless life. That's a stupid, shallow, self-absorbed feel-good pseudo-philosophical piece of shit. Way to casually dismiss everyone who did what they were supposed to do and found meaning in their conformity. Hey, guess what? Happy lives can be worthless too!

I can't wait for you to go out into the world and learn that Spunky Individuals do not, in fact, have the power to change the world.

8: "What then?" Hopefully by then you will have grown up. You might still enjoy video games, and maybe that game more in particular, but you'll have way, way, way more important things to deal with---car payments, family, work, and so on. Growing up is scary, but wanting to *not* grow up is unhealthy. We've got to let go and let ourselves get older, otherwise we become creepy shut-in manchildren obsessed with Disney and Harry Potter. So yeah. Don't worry about it, just enjoy it while you can, but keep it in mind that you're going to need to let go someday.

14: This is the best secret ever posted on this site.

Mod: your picture is boring, your artwork is derivative, and your sentiment is stupid. Shut up.

Whoa, breathe, dude.

(You're harping on someone for being derivative in a fandom community? Huh?)

9. I loved the book too. Two of the characters I wrote fics for and backstory for the most died, some huge fanfic pet peeves happened... and you know what? I still loved it.

12. I know so many people who suit that secret, it's almost a little creepy.

20. Aw. :)

21. Oh I know - I have no sympathy for the majority of them, especially not now that they've been equating 6A with Nazi Germany, and no I am not exaggerating.

I was reluctant to say anything about it too, in case my flist shot back at me with wrath, but I really don't care anymore. The people (on either side) that I'm NOT disgusted with should know who they are, and if they don't that's their problem.

7. I am touched beyond words right now. ♥♥ Also? Don't be so sure I haven't noticed you at some point. There are a lot of RPers and people in general who I like and admire and have never told because I'm actually kinda shy. :D;; So, uh, yeah. And in any case, feel free to talk to me or friend me or whatever. I'LL BE NICE AND NOT CREEPY, I SWEAR.

9. I enjoyed it too.

16. Angel + cell phones = hilarious. *dies* He's always all, "What do I do? Do I push the button? I'M PUSHING THE BUTTON AND NOTHING IS HAPPENING. DX"

5. Because the hype's dying down and most of the people only liked it because it was the fad of its time.

9. One of the best books of the series imho.

[identity profile] enjolras.livejournal.com 2007-08-14 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I LOVED IT TOO. All the people who didn't like it are usually the ones who read too much fanfic. Comparing HP to fanfiction gets under my skin so bad. Anyway! I thought the book topped all the rest. ♥

21. I went to grade school and junior high with one of those people. :O

18. Take a step back from your computer. Breathe. Wishing ill on others over a pairing is just as bad. BTW, I ship IchiRuki. Does this mean you hate me? x)

21. The latest post is MUCH better. No stupid cat macros or other pointless spam.

1. Yes. Also? Yes.

1. YAY. I loved the show already and then it hauled out the crazy Meaning of Life stuff, but not in a lame way -- it really cuts to the core of the dilemma a person faces in the modern world (Yeah, I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true, leave me alone) and Haruhi's situation (and Kyon's, w/r/t Haruhi) is such a wonderful metaphor for the dangers of solipsism as a response to modernity... augh. I LOVE YOU HARUHI asldkjsdl

Thanks for this secret. Well done. *high fives anonymous #1*

22. How do you even make different font sizes in Paint?

(Anonymous) 2007-08-15 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Go to the text tool, draw your textbox, then go to the "View" menu and select "Text Toolbar." ♥

8. I'm turning 17. I'm going to be older then Riku. And Edward. And every other fandom boy I've ever obsessed over. It's just by a year, but I still like a pedophile. Already ):

[identity profile] thepinkangel.livejournal.com 2007-08-15 01:27 am (UTC)(link)

7. ...There are RP BNFs? How odd. I don't really understand how it would work.

(Anonymous) 2007-08-15 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
as far as i know, they had a roleplay comm together and just played well as a group (with other people in and out) i don't know how well bnf applies to that, tho

9. You know what? I did too.

21. I totally agree. I think that kind of spamming is stupid and immature and the DOS attacks and cat macros and complete and utter idiocy (seriously. lemming mentality, much?) accomplish nothing.

3. Write those OCs! Practice makes perfect at learning to build a whole character yourself. I have fun with mind, I got unexpectedly fond of them, I think it made me work harder at making them well-rounded.

9. Me too! I can't wait to see the finale in the movie theater, either. It was so awesome.

16. Nothing to add but that my favourite line from Angel is "Your pocket is singing."

17. That sucks. <3 f/f andm/m over here. I've seen the occaisonal lesbian fan around LJ who says they like m/m, and while I'm not sure I quite get it (I think I'm pretty well bi myself, I like to see either sex get nekkid), I don't think it's sick, nor does it make you less homosexual o_O. I think you ought to just like what you like without feeling shy about it--you know who you are. But of course that's easier to say than do. :( Wish I could be more encouraging than just saying that I don't think there's a thing wrong with you.

22. LOL, seriously. Though I use roflbot, just to make sure the text has a border to be more distinct from the background.

21. Admitted, I don't feel too sorry for [livejournal.com profile] barakb25 because, while he didn't do anything that was actually wrong, posting at [livejournal.com profile] efw about the subject when it was still big issue was not a smart move. I really don't feel that [livejournal.com profile] ljkrissy deserves all this bullshit, though.

17. :( *hugs*

3 - I don't think it's ever been an issue of OC-creators being pegged as untalented, darling. Creating original characters deserves more respect than writing canon characters. It's more difficult. But this is also why people who use OCs get a lot of criticism. Many of them are poorly made. They're overpowered or unrealistic, or the writer is using them for wish fulfillment (a relationship with a character they like, revenge on one they dislike, etc.) It's the multitude of shitty OCs that gives them their bad name.

So I say, go on. Write them. But if you don't take your time and tread carefully, people will put you down, and with reason. Fanfiction's a good place to start, if you're having trouble developing a plot or a universe, but if you're this interested in OCs, I encourage you to start a whole new original story and don't worry about putting them into fanfic. Less chances of popping out an unintentional Sue/Stu that way.

[identity profile] ex-parle.livejournal.com 2007-08-15 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
9 - Definitely agree with you. :( Too bad it's over. :/

21 - I loved that they admitted to their mistakes and apologized. But what I hated were those really persistent fuckers who just KEPT ON GOING and whining and bitching. And now look where it's getting them, aka ~*~FANdom~*~, they're SUING? Let me grab the popcorn for everyone here, it's on the house. No seriously, it's on the house.
