But isn't it also presumptuous to assume that everyone ships because think the characters are hot? I think that's what this secret is about.

Yeah, of course it is. But just because OP is complaining about that mindset doesn't mean it's not just as annoying for them to do it on the other side.

I...really think you're missing the OP's point. I'm pretty sure the OP isn't trying to say 'Omg, no one ships for attraction!' as much as expressing irritation at the sheer number of people who don't understand that what someone ships doesn't always equal what they're attracted. They also mentioned they were afraid to bring this up anywhere because...well. The wank [and, I strongly suspect, people reacting exactly how you did.]

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not what they meant to say, but it's what they did say. "Nothing to do with shipping", where shipping is not qualified in any way, is pretty much saying exactly that.

Which completely ignores their next sentence about how 'Not Everyone bases their ships on finding the characters attractive' - which has the implication that the OP knows some people *do*. Bitching the OP out about the first sentence, without acknowledging the second just proves that the OP was right not to bring this up un-anonly.
