"Cultural appropriation" is generally used to describe the cherry-picking of unprivileged/minority cultural practices by the dominant culture/privileged class, thereby divorcing said cultural practice from historical and cultural meaning, e.g., white people wearing dreadlocks.
Please explain how being of mixed descent could be interpreted as "cultural appropriation."

(Anonymous) 2012-11-04 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)2) ignores and attacks mixed families via adoption (ie. someone could be white adopted into a Japanese family)
3) attacks mixed kids who look more like one parent than the other (ie. a half white/half Chinese kid comes out looking white, and is forced to deny half of their culture or they get called out for cultural appropriation)
