If you are cherry-picking something from another culture for REASONS, whether it's out of genuine appreciation or not, it's cultural appropriation.

I don't understand how this goes against what I was saying? I didn't say that I was for the cherry-picking of random parts of another culture. I'm actually completely against that, as it isn't appreciating it at all, that's just being lazy and racist. The person I originally replied to seemed to be confusing cultural appropriation with recognizing other cultures in a respectful way, and I was replying that going against cultural appropriation is not going against segregation or miscegenation.
