1. I got a quote, and it was $100 (tip included) while 30% off. Wherever you go might be different, so ask around.

2. The place I went, they required me to have a printed version of what I wanted, and they turned that into a template, so my guess is that yes you do want to have one with you. If it was a picture, I'd say, take in an idea of what you want, and talk to them.

3. If it's a reputable tatoo parlor, what they'll do is they'll make a fake tattoo of the words, and they'll let you try it on, and see how you feel. You can do that as many times as you need to get it to look right. After that, if you need it fixed, or touched up or anything, you should wait until after it's healed, so that you can make sure that the problem is actually something to do with the tat, and not to do with the way the healing process is making the tattoo look. (At least, with mine, it looked kind of funky while healing, but now that it's done, it's fine.) I think I read that most tattoo places will go over it once more if it looks really bad, but it's up to their discretion, so that's something you need to talk to your parlor about.
