Huh, why? What's the big difference between dating multiple people and actually marrying them, provided that all parties are informed and consenting?

I think it's more me associating polygamy with sharia law or whatever it's called, that says men can have multiple wives but doesn't allow the same right to women. And also, polygamy isn't legal in most countries, so it seems selfish to me to marry one person, as if the person you marry is somehow "better" than the other person/people you don't.

But you're right, if polygamy were legal and all parties were informed and consenting I wouldn't really care.
