As much as I love them, I don't think I could ever run a kink meme. In the past I've gotten so irritated with certain characters/tropes/users on the ones that I frequent, and I think I'd snap after a point. You have my sympathy, OP.

I understand. I acquired a kink meme a while back and I'm still creeped out by prompts and posts for a horrible, yet woobified character in canon. And I wouldn't delete them too because I'm not that kind of mod.

It's a good thing you're not "that kind of mod", because once you create a space like that, it's not just for you anymore. I get being annoyed by overexposed (heh) characters, but you've gotta let peope have their fun.

While I'm fine to let people like what they like, I admit that some tropes do get old quickly. I've quit visiting kink memes before for this reason, so I imagine it would be incredibly frustrating to have to mod a community where you hate the majority of the fic. So I agree you might want to see if someone else will take over for you. Otherwise you'll just keep on hating and resentment will build and it'll be even more of a mess.

Maybe just start offering mod duties to someone else? i.e. say that because of other time constraints in life, you will no longer be able to run a kinkmeme, and offer up the comm to someone.

If no one takes it, just post a reminder you are still open to giving the comm, 'shut down', and wait - someone will probably come by asking to take over soon enough. :)

Anyway, it sounds like you could do with hiring a co-mod who doesn't mind dealing with the prompts and fills for this guy, that way you don't have to be hassled with it.

That was my first thought, but I'm pretty sure there's more than one kink meme, although possibly there's only one active one. I certainly haven't set virtual foot in any of them since Hook showed up, since for some reason I'm fine with woobifying manipulative murderers like Rumpelstiltskin and Regina but draw the line at selfish bullies like Hook.

I did think about getting a co-mod or offering to hand it over, but no one wants to do it. The reason I had to make the meme myself was that no one else would do it, and now even though it practically runs itself, still no one else wants to take over.
I actually used to have a co-mod, but due to family issues she has had to take extra shifts at work and doesn't have time for this anymore.

The reason I haven't abandoned the meme completely is that when I see really great fills for rare pairings/characters (even ones I don't ship!) it makes me really happy. There has been some really great and interesting fic on the kink meme, it just gets drowned out by 100 more fics about that one popular character.

Hey nonny, is there any possibility of you passing on the kinkmeme to someone else who is less picky about fills. I've seen what happens when a meme or community is run by someone who hates it, and it's just bad. Really, really bad. For everyone. You can advertise in your meme for someone to come and take it off your hands. Someone probably will be happy to do so.

Sorry you didn't get the fills you were expecting, but I can't say I'm surprised that you are getting non-stop popular idfic prompts. Usually the popular tropes and pairings have to take off and be successful before people are willing to risk prompting and filling less popular tropes and pairings. The more people test the waters and find them to be welcoming and non-judgmental the more variety and enthusiasm eventually comes out of it.
