yeah, unless you like Gundam or One Piece, no one knows what you're talking about. Compared to the western culture of screaming weeaboos, the really nerdy people are good at hiding their power level though (in a good way)

Yeah I think they're good at "hiding" it because the social stigma against it is so strong there that they literally just...don't leave home much. That's the impression I've gotten online, anyway, I'm sure that's mostly just the REALLY EXTREME fans.

You don't want to know the number of essays I've corrected from teenagers who say their favorite book is some SJ manga.

Also you forgot Bleach and Naruto, those are both still stupidly popular here.
