okay I totally agree that it's pretty sad if you got to go to another country and are disappointed for no reason other than your fandom wasn't as popular as you expected, but at the same time... where did you go, because Japan actually IS kind of a crazy fun place for anime/jpop/j-fashion/etc fans if you stick to major cities. I mean there are anime and gaming *districts* in many major cities, plus cool site-seeing places that you'd recognize from anime, conventions, amusement parks, maid/butler cafes, museums, game centers, etc...
Japan is a REALLY goddamn fun place to visit. (Less fun to live there of course, once you have to deal with work visas and taxes and all that kind of crap.)
