I was coming here to say a version of this. I immediately thought of a few songs (interestingly, all pony songs, although that may just be because they're free to download and so I listen to a lot of them) and artists that do use Autotune for a musical effect - specific Awoken, by WoodenToaster, which is supposed to sound very electronic and mechanical and inhuman - and for that matter, you can tell that the guy behind it is actually singing, and singing well.

When it's used because the person "singing" can't be fucking bothered to get voice lessons or even poke around the internet for a few helpful tips or, even worse, is flat-out even talking? Yeah, I get OP's point.

I can honestly say that I'd be upset if GLaDOS didn't sound at least a bit mechanical. :)
