Re: Election!

So you're cool with letting the majority speak for you, even though you disagree with them. Huh.

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Instead of having an armed member of the majority supervising me while I vote? Yeah. Because in this town they will find you later and kill your pets or slash your tires or throw bricks through your window. If you're lucky enough to vote with an unarmed person supervising you, they're a teacher and your kids will suffer if you don't vote the way the teacher's union wants you to. Voter intimidation doesn't even begin to describe it.

You need to get out of there. :\

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
That's... uh... that's pretty terrible. And, I'm pretty sure, illegal.

You should get in contact with the DNC or something and see if you can get some legal action going on (I AM NOT A LAWYER THO).

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
That would be suicide since it's the democrats doing it. I don't live here by choice and can only hope my company approves my request for transfer next year. I'm an indef contractor, so finding a new job isn't an option.

Then get in contact with the RNC.

I'm an independent. I don't trust the republicans anymore than the democrats in general and I'm not sure I could in this instance, either.

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
You may not trust them to do the right thing, but they have a real interest in fucking with the Democrats, and if they can get a story about how Democrats are using violence to intimidate voters, that would be something they would be happy about.

also, in general, I'm kind of wondering where you live - in general terms, I understand where specificity might be something you want to avoid, but like - what state are you in, is it a rural or an urban area? If you don't feel comfortable answering it's cool, just wondering.

And before anyone jumps on me, I'm not a republican, either.

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
where the fuck do you even live?

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Illinois

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Not surprised, tbh. I grew up in Chicago. Voter intimidation seems to be the norm there.

Re: Election!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
People supervise you while you vote to the point where they can see your ballot? Fucking hell I am so glad I don't live where you do.

LOL, you are so obviously full of BS.

I'd love to see a source on this "kill your pets and slash your tires" thing, for either side.

Me too. I definitely know intimidation tactics go on on both sides of the party line (especially when it comes to employers intimidating the people under them with pink slips and such), but I've yet to hear anything quite this extreme. :/
