People need to stop labeling Loki as a fascist. He's not. He wanted to rule over Earth. His politics have nothing to do with establishing a state based on synthesizing corporate power with government power in a form of state run mixed economy, nor were his actions based on a far-right theory based upon restoring the 'golden days' of a past era by unifying the people of Earth on the basis of nationalist identity.

If anything, he'd be a feudal monarchist.

I guess people just like to use it because they connect it with Nazis, the best quick-reference point for evil? Either that, or they want to sound cool on the Internet. There's nothing funnier than people throwing around words to act cool when they clearly have no idea what those words actually mean.

What will the anti-Loki fans do if Coulson is proven to be alive at the end of "Avengers?" It's possible, given that he's the cornerstone of the live-action Whedon 'Shield' series for ABC.

nayrt

LOL. But...wasn't Loki working with the Chitauri to take over the planet? So it wouldn't be a feudal monarchy, and we have no idea what kind of politics the Chitauri subscribe to. /nitpicking for the sake of it

But uhhhh...Coulson turning out to be alive doesn't excuse Loki in any way. He still intended to kill him, and thought he killed him. As far as Loki knew, and as far as the Avengers knew, Coulson was dead. I don't see how that will affect anti-Loki fans at all? After all, everyone brings Coulson back to life in fics anyway.

Ah, I'm still torn on whether Loki killed Coulson intentionally or not. It's because whenever Loki stabs someone in Avengers all I see is omg shut uuuup intent rather than dieeeeeee intent.

Stabbing Coulson was, in effect proving a point to Thor, IMO. "HAHA, you couldn't even protect one human. Silly brother." So yeah... I'd say there was intent to seriously harm, if not kill.

"Fascist" is a specific political system that does not apply to Loki, no. However, from his comments about freeing people from freedom, I think we can safely characterize him as totalitarian.

Incidentally, "feudal" is also a specific political system. We have no concrete evidence of its presence in Asgard, and I don't think it applies to Loki, either -- unless you're considering Thanos his feudal overlord, which I would not.

anti-Loki fan here.

If Coulson is still alive, it changes nothing in my eyes. Loki STILL wanted to commit genocide, conquer the Earth, killed 30 people in less than a week, killed that one guy for his eye, almost killed a defenseless old man in Germany, is directly responsible for every death in NY, AND tried to kill his brother at least twice.

Oh, and he still tried to kill Coulson and as far as he knew, the wound was fatal. So yeah, no. If Coulson is alive, Loki is still a piece of shit. (But, yeah, not a fascist. That would've Doom)

You are so fucking correct. Loki is fucked up, and even if he did have some ~reason~ (which, maybe a tiny little itty bitty bone to pick) it nowhere NEAR excuses him. I want him to pay, I want him in jail, I want him to feel vindicated, I want him to realize what he's done, and I want him to feel like complete and utter shit because he is a complete and utter shit person. Then I want people to never ever ever get back together trust his smarmy ass again.

And I'm quite fond of Loki.
