[Fievel Goes West]

(Anonymous) 2012-11-07 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, man. Back when I was tiny, I wound and rewound my Fievel Goes West video cassette to listen to this song over and over.

Now I use iTunes for that.

Same here! I had taped the credits version of it (with Linda Ronstadt, I think) and I would just listen to it constantly.

I love this song like burning. Ever since I was a little kid, too.

You are not alone, OP.

THIS MOVIE. <3 <3 <3

It, along with Toy Story and All Dogs Go To Heaven, basically was my childhood, and this was one of my favorite scenes, (maybe even my single favorite scene, tied with the very end), in the whole film, even when I was five years old.

It's definitely up there.

I wanted to be a singer as a kid, and I think part of it might have been this movie/character, and this song in particular. I loved Tanya.

I've seen An American Tail, but not Fievel Goes West - what is the song?

Fievel Goes West has some of the best music. It really makes me wish I'd been able to see An American Tail when I was kid. [...And reminds me that I still should probably give watching it a try.]

Fucking haunting as a kid. Beautiful, but haunting.

I understood that cat so much.

Even if everything else about her made her meaningless to him, that alone was worth preserving.

I always took it as her voice helped him overcome their differences, but she was his Exception. He was willing to let the other mice run because of his crush on her.

I loved this movie as a kid! I can barely remember it now though... Might have to give it another watch. Thanks OP. :)

I was always a little more partial to The Girl You Left behind, but you really can't go wrong with the music in Fievel Goes West, imo.

Oy. I used to love that song, but after that episode of South Park... it will never be the same.

That's because it is. Embrace it. I love that movie.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-08 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my goodness, the memories. My heart is swelling.

I haven't seen this movie in years upon years. But I remember when it came out; I loved 'An American Tail' and watched it constantly, so I was overcome with joy that there was a sequel and that I might have the chance to see it in the actual theater. And I got to! It was a big thing with my mom and a couple of my aunts and a bunch of my cousins.

I can hardly remember the experience now, because I was all of 6, and nothing out of the ordinary happened (even though I was only 4 when it came out, I have more distinct memories of going to see 'The Little Mermaid,' because Ursula scared the ever-loving crap out of my cousin so we wound up having to leave about halfway through). But I definitely remember the excitement surrounding it.

Ah, childhood! Good times were had by all.

I was so obsessed with this scene. SO. OBSESSED. I think part of me has always wanted to be her. And I'm not even a "her."
