True. He even lives in apartment 221b Baker Street. I guess I didn't count House because, 1. it's a medical drama, not a police/detective show, and 2. Neither the Holmes nor the Watson stand-in are female.

That's because it's an intentional homage. You're supposed to catch on that they're basically Holmes and Watson. They weren't trying to hide anything, they're assuming it's such an obvious connection that almost everyone will get it eventually.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all. (I wouldn't know, I've never seen House.) I'm just pointing it out because it seems rather obvious to me.
