Drug Testing?

I was wondering if anyone on fandomsecrets has had any experience with drug testing? I will be tested for a potential new job, and I'm kinda nervous. I don't do any drugs, but I was around my friends while they were smoking weed. (that was about a month ago, if it makes any difference)

Am I unnecessarily freaking out, or am I screwed?

You're absolutely fine. Don't worry.

You're very unlikely to get a positive test because of people smoking weed around you, and even if you had been smoking, a month is usually just about long enough for the weed to pass through your system. So you're fine two ways, really. Don't worry about it.

Ahhhh thank you so much. I was freaking out because I don't smoke, but if I had ever gotten a positive result back I would not get the job AND that would raise really awkward questions from my family.

You know, I dunno, I guess it depends on what job and how much they smoked. There's a gov agency I'm applying to that swears that even being around pot being smoked will end up with enough in your system to get picked up. Maybe they have a very sensitive test?

I don't think the job is a big deal...it's not a government agency like yours, but it does involve working in a pharmacy around drugs. But I hope they don't have a sensitive test :/

I can state from personal experience that you're freaking out overmuch. I'm pretty sure at least one of my job-related job tests occurred within a week of hanging out with some stoner friends, and I've definitely had one within a month of being around pot smokers. Never had a problem. Also, I'm fairly certain that a month past a single use is outside the typical range for a urine test, although since I don't smoke myself, I've never bothered to check.

Everyone says no worries, and they're mostly right. Standard drug testing won't pick up secondhand weed smoke that happened a month ago. You'll be fine.

Now if you've ever done hard drugs personally and then had to take a hair sample test, that's a different story.

You'll be fine, even if you do do drugs just hold off on them for 5 days beforehand to be safe.

I don't think they pay much attention if they're piss testing. I accidentally dropped my cup in the toilet and gave them mostly water and passed. No one checks for chlorine levels!

If you get the job and you're working around pharmaceuticals, you can expect to be tested again in the future. You should try to avoid being around people who use drugs because it can show up in the test in the first week. If you piss hot, they'll retest you. The restest often includes hair so even if you piss clean, you'd be screwed by your hair. If they do a hair test from the beginning, you're not getting that job. That's a highly unlikely scenario, though.
