Haven't seen the show, but, a tattoo artist deciding to purposefully cause heightened levels of discomfort during a session is highly unprofessional. And flat-out stupid.

He thinks it's okay if it doesn't cause major damage to the skin. It's his method of quieting annoying clients. It's just wrong.

I haven't seen this particular season of Ink Master,
but it only makes you racist if you hate them for being black.
Your disagreements with them seem perfectly valid, though. They shouldn't get a "get out of criticism free" card just because of a skin pigment.

Hating someone because they're an asshole isn't racist... and to be honest, after watching the part wear camo shorts says it's fine to cause extra pain if a client's being rude I'd say he's definitely being an asshole.

If you disliked them solely because they were black, that would make you racist. Or if you were willing to overlook the same behaviour that you dislike with these gentlemen being acted out by white dudes, that would be pretty sketchy and would most likely point to subconscious racism and a double standard. But disliking someone who's not white because you don't like their behavior or things that they've done/said doesn't make you racist.

(I don't watch the show, personally, so I can't really make any specific comments on the people in the secret.)

I can't stand them either and I don't think I'm racist. I don't like Sarah either, but I'm not a misogynist. Your reasons for disliking them are valid. They're both dicks.

Sebastian thinks that it's okay to deal with a difficult client by increasing the needle speed and moving very slowly in order cause more pain. He basically says that when the pain gets bad they'll shut up and stop being annoying. He thinks it's okay as long as it doesn't hurt the skin.

Kay Kutta is just a jerk in general. He's the resident troll of Season 2. He devotes time to messing with the other contestants that should be used on figuring out how to do a better tattoo. (He's had one really shining moment, a few okay tattoos, and the rest have been getting worse IMHO.) He's a bully and that's a good reason not to like him.

Though they're hardly alone. Apparently tattoo artists are shittier people than fashion designers, chefs, make up artists and drag queens.

I really don't get why everyone wets their panties over Kat Von Dee. In LA Ink she comes across as a vain, selfish, ego-centric bitch who couldn't manage to make a cup of coffee, let alone manage a shop. Her management/people skills are shit if that show's for real. No-one with a shred of dignity ought to work for her - although frankly, it seems to me that pretty much everyone in shows like LA Ink, Miami Ink, London Ink and New York Ink comes across as a 24 caret arsehole.

...Though I often suspect very little of what we see isn't staged...

I love the judges on this show but I hate most of the contestants from both seasons (especially Kay Kutta). Almost everyone competing is really arrogant but most lack the actual talent to back it up and have to resort to being dicks and playing mind games. I also agree it's unethical to cause people unnecessary pain just because you don't like them. If it's really that problematic for that one guy he should just refuse to finish the piece. Problem solved.

b) The others are just as assholish but you put up with it

Yes, but you didn't say you hated all the black/non-white characters here, so surely you just hate two characters who happen to be black?
