Maybe I've been in fandom too long, but I get massive secondhand embarrassment from people making secrets ~confessing~ what seem to me to be totally normal power-tinged fantasies about - LE GASP - gorgeous superheroes and/or celebrities.

Like, omg, this isn't special, it's just TMI. Get thee to the kink meme, where this stuff belongs.

Except she's imagining self-insert fantasies. Do kink memes allow those? Sure, one could be turned on by a female character (say, Natasha)/Bruce BDSM fic, but it's not quite the same. At least for me.

I agree it's not very special, just a couple of kinks that that a myriad of people have.

I've actually read a few kink meme fills that were [Character]/You, with You as an unnamed OC female second person narrator. I also tend to assume that if someone thinks the idea of getting fucked by [character] in whatever way is super hot, they'll probably enjoy fic of that happening with another character they identify with/their favorite pairing/whatever.

On the flip side, I think some significant proportion of the people writing kinky whatever for their favorite pairings would think it was totally hot if it happened to them. And they don't post Mary Sue fic because it's annoying, but there's an understanding that the fantasies are probably at least common even if they aren't ubiquitous.

LOL, of course I know people are different and have different reactions to their own kinks and what have you, but I get the embarrassment squick anyway. I think it's less PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT in this case as the fact that some people are so ignorant of the context/culture they are talking to and in that they don't realize how totally typical they are. They're making a huge deal about this thing that is totally normalized here, and they haven't noticed. It's like someone just totally missing social cues in other situations.

Not all of this is directed at secret OP; I ran into avengerssexconfessions on tumblr today and got a lot of this feeling. Especially when every post on asc was basically the fucking same.
