omg I forgot to check it yesterday

...WOW. Yeah, I feel like if any other writer had done that I would be shaking my fist right now but that is actually the perfect explanation.

Also lol the Blingee.

I understand, but when people would be more comfortable seeing that as a villainous role, there's hardly any mainstream queer characters, and the ONLY queer character is a derange bad guy, it kinda is unfortunate, you know?

AYRT I've seen pretty much every Bond film as far as I can remember... but I think if you know Bond, even just from say Brosnan, Connery and Moore then Skyfall works really well. In fact the older ones may even be more important to get the jokes... and that lovely car!!

I just think Quantum of Solace is so bad it's not worth it, I've forgotten most of it and it didn't matter. .

If you know the old Bond films then it helps with Skyfall, but it's not essential, more just that there are references and jokes that make more sense. Plot wise, it's standalone so it doesn't matter.

I thinking writing cyborgs who used to be normal humans trying to figure out how to have sex can be fun. But I don't get robot sex at all. Why would robots even want to have sex? It's not like they have a biologocal urge for it.

Hahha. I was being facetious. :)

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT, yes the scene is totally played out like that. Bear in mind that Bardem is an uber Bond villain, he's horrible. Although with a great back story and motivations that really make sense as to how he got the way he was. So it's not like Bond is likely to be attracted to him as such, and the dynamic is more a brother thing with M being their mother if anything.

I can see why the person made it a secret, because you do feel bad as it's non consensual groping! But it does have that homoerotic thing going on.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Enduring Love, The Mother... all I got off hand, but I'm sure there are a lot of others..

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'd say more "That idiot, harassing creep deserved it".
Because it's the "slut" word that makes it sound sexist.
While if it had been a man (even a teenage boy) vs a female idol, nobody would have flinched that she would have threatened to hit him with her small fists.

And that is also sexist, in my eyes.
A creep stalker is a creep stalker, and after a while I guess people just don't know what to do to reason them or scare them away since nothing works.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT yes I'd say that was the same in the cinema in London, and it was a good laugh, if that makes sense, I think people were laughing with Bond, like of course it wouldn't be his first, it's Bond he's probably done everything.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
The cheek was so eeew, but the teeth! Good God. It was so horrible. Yes M was a bad Mum there, especially as she tells Bond later a lot about him, and clearly had remembered him well. She's as hard as nails, but then that's her job. I kind of liked that.

I liked all those scenes in Churchill's bunker, I thought the idea of using that was genius for the 50 year anniversary film..

buy an account, you dumbo, it's only 10 bucks and they're freaking great forums

I find when I watch the Bond films I have to almost handwave the Bond girl scenes, they are so sexist and awful. I hate it. Thing is I never feel that going into the shower etc is meant to be non consensual, the woman gives Bond the nod at some point earlier, as she does in Skyfall, and also I assume we are being shown a gratuitous shower scene, but it doesn't mean it's the next time the woman has seen Bond, most of us would at least look a bit shocked if Daniel Craig just walked into our shower, and she is totally expecting him.

I do hate the Bond girl trope, it was the one bit of this film I hated, the poor woman was enduring being raped by Bardem's character, and then just gets used by Bond, and well her fate is just awful along with that vile sexist joke Bond says, and why didn't he punch them up before the thing happened to her?? Ugh. Still I totally loved the film, I just tried not to get caught up in that nasty bit.

Bond/Q are adorable!! I've not been that bothered by Ben Withshaw until now, but he's so fab in that role.

See I think the implication is that it's Bond, you can imagine he's tried everything. We get in canon that he's a big drinker and drug user, so why not having tried all kinds of sex. It's just it's no big deal to him.

I can't see them having a Bond boy, but it would be great. I just think that it would compete with Bond being the sexiest guy in the room, wouldn't really work.

Prettttty sure you're me 5 years in the future (none of my friends are getting married, yet) (and I hopefully won't get an immune disease, seriously, that blows).

But everything else, yeah. Loneliness, not even making accounts on internet sites because of fear of people judging what I say on there, "At least I'm used to being alone and scared of everything else but I really really just want to be like everyone else." I never learned how to be intimate and trust people and open up. I'm no damn good at making friends.

I don't know, dude. I sure as hell don't have any answer for you; if I did, I wouldn't be writing to you. All I've been doing so far is, you know, just making do and surviving, and hoping something changes around the bend. Fuck, man. Fuck it.

OP

I don't know him at all. I met him once. He was polite, that's it.

I mentioned it because I feel skeevier about reading fanfic about someone who is no longer just some abstract idea of a person anymore.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
But you don't care if Harry or William wouldn't?

Diana doesn't care; she's dead.

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not. We're not friends. He meets a lot of people.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
The truest hero?
He ended the world because he wouldn't off himself, sounds like an anti-hero to me.

Re: really cool fem!Harry Potter fic

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt?

So far so good. It's nice to read a story that doesn't sugarcoat the fact Snape's meant to be scary.

This is my first genderswap fic to read, so far I'm not minding Harriet.

Re: How long do you date

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
How can I "give them that impression" when I literally tell them "I'm not really feeling it, but alright, I'll give you a shot if you want it so much" or something along those lines? They beg and plead and whine for the chance so much that it's far less irritating in the long run just to give in and go on a few dates.

Re: How long do you date

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you could be right I suppose, they could just assume I'm playing hard to get or something.

How do you suggest I make it clear that I'm not, if you have any suggestions?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-10 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm in Europe, I'll get tv shows months, if not years, later so I'm used to watching the Christmas episone in June. *shrug*
