The real question is why does Jesse Williams look white here?

I've never seen him in anything else but by this movie he looked like he was probably mixed race. I'd guess half black/half white. What IS his ethnicity, since it seems to matter so much?

Half black/half white is darker than that. Wikipedia says his mum is Swedish and his pop is African-American with Seminole blood.

Um. You do realize that black/white mixing results in a wide range of skin colours because genetics does not cause people to be an exact average of their parents?

So a Swedish (white) mother, and a African-American/Seminole (simplistically: black) father... but no, he's totally too light to be half black/half white? (In addition to what the other anon pointed out.)
