A lone eyeball rolls across the abandoned second page. Who will stride forth to comment?! First person to mention the X hiatus, KuroFay, SeiSub, DouWata, SakuSyao, or plot twists loses.

Today's theme is "least favorite characters!" Which of CLAMP's characters do you think were annoying, dastardly, or just plain badly-written? Bonus points if you can pinpoint why Fei Wang Reed was such a lousy villain!

Sakura. I can't really pin point why, but something about her just rubbed me the wrong way.

...and my money with Fei Wang Reed is because...idk. To me he just seemed passieve. He did do some stuff, but he was mostly content to sit back and watch other's do things for most of the series [iirc - I could be forgetting something though, it's been a year or two since I last read.]

To which Sakura are you referring? The two Sakuras in the most recent Holitsuba oneshot really rubbed me the wrong way -- they were kind of creepy!

Fei Wang really didn't do anything himself until the final chapters, though he did personally stab Xing Huo and Kurogane's mother.

I meant CCS - though, tbh, most of the versions I've seen do. [In fairness, I've really only seen the Tsubasa, and CCS ones. So I can't really speak for any of the other's.]

True, but that happened prior to the story so you didn't really see him do much to the end, which made him come off as passieve or maybe 'like he wasn't really trying' for most of the series, at least that's how it read to me.

+1 for Sakura, and IMO it's because she's so normal it's boring. I think she'd be cute as a supporting character for something, but being the main character you have to watch her boring normalness all the damn time and it starts to actually get annoying.

Misaki from Angelic Layer is the same to an even greater extent. They're also not just the only CLAMP characters, but the only characters in anything that I feel this way about.

You know, I think the only thing that was actual special about Misaki was her shortness. She's supposedly a tactical genius, but...CLAMP didn't do a great job demonstrating that (since her winning almost every match was a given due to the genre).

Those screechy things in xxHolic. Two little girls, I think, and a "cute" pet thing. I had heard good things about it, so I went to watch the anime and couldn't get past the second episode, they annoyed me so much. SHUT UP! YOU'RE NOT CUTE! YOU'RE NOT FUNNY!

The anime isn't as good as the manga, imo, since they had to change a fair bit of the overall plot to make the anime work. The girls are still a little annoying, and Makona [the screechy thing] are still there, but they're toned down.

Mokona also had a more important role in the manga due to the crossover with TRC. Since all of those crossovers were cut out for the anime, Mokona was left in as a cute mascot...in a series that didn't need a cute mascot.

The white Mokona (Soel) was a much better character than the black one (Larg) in the end, though -- I think Larg was ultimately reduced to arm decoration in the last chapters.

True, but Larg was also less annoying, imo, and there are plenty of scenes where you can pretty much ignore Larg [and the girls, really] in the manga without losing anything from the story.

WATANUKI couldn't stand him by the end of XXXholic and apparently he's still showing up in stuff.

Ugh, I can't stand how CLAMP won't retire him already! It's made worse by how much the rest of the fandom seems to love him.

Personally I enjoyed Watanuki, and I liked seeing him grow during his character arc [though he did get a little too Cheshire cat-y there at the end, but Yuki was that all along so meh].
