It's perfectly okay if you like a simple, pared-down game the best, OP. A lot of contemporary JRPGs (and western RPGs, too, come to think of it) try too hard to push forth the most polished graphics, the most complex gameplay system, or the most awe-inspiring story, so sometimes it's nice to go back to basics and play games just for the sake of having a good time.

The best RPG I ever played was made in RPG Maker.

now, saying that and not dropping a title is being a tease of the higher caliber :O

It's Ruina: Fairy Tale of the Forgotten Ruins or Ruina: 廃都の物語, but it's Japanese only: http://homepage1.nifty.com/blackhat/ftotfr/game.htm

Some of my favorite games were actually made in RPGMaker, so I don't see the problem with this.

(Ib, The Witch's House, and .flow, if anyone wants to know.)

heck yes

also Yume Nikki (there would be no .flow without it!), Ao Oni, I also think Answered Prayers is gorgeous, but it's not complete (http://yumenikkifg.wikia.com/wiki/Answered_Prayers), uhhh okay I don't know many more orz
