i know how you feel, i love the dresden dolls' older music and some of the stuff from amanda's first album, but it's a bit difficult to separate artist from their work in this case for me :/

Oh, man, of course it's politically-correct craziness. There's even use of the word "problematic." Sigh.

I think she's pretentious as hell, but unfortunately, her audience is sort of pretentious as hell as well which equals liberalism gone crazy. And I'm a liberal. But nobody can ever please everyone, so why not say what you feel and damn the correctness?

And, as I will continue to mention, because it needs to get out there, when her partner, who was a recovering drug addict had a relapse, she faked a suicide attempt to let him know how he made her feel.

A few years later he committed suicide.

She recorded his reaction when he found her, pretending to be dead, and years later she used it on an album.

did you somehow miss that bit? You can whine about how awful being a respectful person is all you like but that is a fucking AWFUL thing to do to someone.

There's a difference between being 'overly politically correct' and being upset that someone literally recorded their SO's reaction to finding their suicide 'attempt' and publishing it in some way, shape, or form, for the world to see.
