Black Ops 2!
(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 01:19 am (UTC)(link)If you're a fan, what's your favourite game? campaign? mode? CoD4 is my favourite campaign, but I love spec ops from MW2 & 3. (Zombies gets boring after a while.)
BONUS QUESTION: Did anyone get a PC copy that ended up being Mass Effect 2?
Re: Black Ops 2!
Been more of a fan of the campaign then I should. It's really good for spectacle and event, but the sheer nuts and bolts just aren't that well done. For multiplayer I'm more into Halo or Battlfield, because I've always found that they do balance and varied gameplay more effectively.
Highlight has to be the Special Ops mission where you have the guy on the ground, and the guy in the chopper providing firing and visual support. Just incredibly well done asymmetrical gameplay, with effective integration between the two vastly distinct roles. Needs to be borrowed and developed upon as a concept by better developers.
Right now shooter wise I'm waiting on Halo 4. Ordered myself and my sister a copy (she's probably a bigger fan than me tbh), but I fucked up the billing vs order address for her which I needed to clarify, and despite everyone else ordering from the site getting the game a day earlier, we're still waiting on it.
Actually getting pretty irritated at this point, need to call them up and chase my order.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 02:00 am (UTC)(link)I know what you mean about liking the campaign. I liked Black Ops' so that part of BO2 appeals to me. I'm not a fan of CoD's MP, so at least they have zombies and spec ops and the like. (And actually, the mission you described is one of my favourites.)
Re: Black Ops 2!
Lol, which one do you mean? There've been like four or five spec ops missions with a guy on the ground being supported by a chopper gunner - more if you count both games.
Re: Black Ops 2!
(Sorry, I haven't played CoD though. I always think I should...but there's a lot to catch up on.)

Apparently EA and Activision employ the same disc manufacturing plant, but it's still a hilariously epic fail regardless. ;)
(Honestly, if you just want to play the campaigns, I'd say borrow or buy super cheap if you can. The campaigns are 4-8 hours depending on the game, so you'd only get longevity if you play other modes, like spec ops, zombies etc etc. And multiplayer's probably not worth it if you're not a fan of the CoD crowd of 12 year old dudebros and/or playing one of the two newest games.)
Re: Black Ops 2!
(Where would one start if they just wanted to play campaign? Do all the games tie together? Wikipedia is telling me there are arcs so does one just start at the beginning of one of those arcs? Do all the different arcs have their own set of characters? ...IDK anything, lol, but campaign is all I would be interested in.)
Re: Black Ops 2!
(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 07:37 am (UTC)(link)Modern Warfare, MW2 and MW3 are unrelated to the WaW/BO games, but obviously linked to each other... but their timelines are much, much closer together than the former. They have their own set of recurring characters :)
I like both storylines myself (can't say for BO2 yet), and found MW a little easier to get into when I started out... WaW & Black Ops kicked my ass a bunch more, haha.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 07:39 am (UTC)(link)I still find it hilarious that of all the games to mistakenly put on the disc, it had to be an EA one. XD

(Anonymous) 2012-11-14 11:22 am (UTC)(link)Re: Black Ops 2!
This'll be the first CoD I haven't preordered in ages, mostly because I didn't care for any of the pre-order bonuses (as opposed to the awesome toys that came with Blops and MW2, and the discounted Elite membership that came with MW3). Also, I worked the night of the release, so I couldn't attend the launch party :/
That said I have a fondness for the campaigns, and I hate spoilers, so I try to get around to playing them as soon as possible (I beat MW3's the night it launched, which was for the best, since OMG SOAP kept pouring in right after).
Agreed that CoD4's was easily the best, though.
