You were asking why someone would wish the site would crash and burn.

The administration fostering an environment where salivating over teenagers and pre-teens is overlooked, where racism is allowed and where rape is handled with all the respect of a morbid 13 year old and where dissidents are shooed away before the three other groups and on top of it the people in charge of it claiming it to be family-friendly and flip-flopping on whether it is an academical resource or not do make me wish it would disappear too, so I get what the anon you replied to first meant and felt.

(I've only posted that link in two occasions that I remember of: right in this thread and back that day in the general comments, I think? Sorry if it came across as spamming. ._.)

Eh, not really. It takes approximately thirty seconds to create five usernames and edit a trope page, with no approval necessary. The stuck-up admins have a lot less sway over the site than they think they do.

Ah, I see. That's fair enough, but I really don't think it's a very big deal, since I haven't seen any evidence of that behavior creep into the trope pages (which is what most people are exposed to), so I think a change in admins would be the better option. I hate the admins for their weird snooty policies anyway.

The forums are definitely stuffed to the brim with pure fail though. Ugh.

As flailing as it was, their various purges did get rid of a lot of the worst sections (Fetish Fuel, Troper Tales and various sexuality/fanservice-related pages, although some skeevy stuff remains a bit more hidden), and even before that I very rarely stumbled across skeevy stuff and know of many people who didn't even know it was there in the first place. (I honestly think most visitors had and still have no idea, so I get what you mean.)

The administrator likely will never step down. He's the owner of the site (so he has a final veto on things, and uses it often), he picks the mods himself, codes the site himself, does the serious banning himself (the infamous "Google Bounce"), decides the final rules and policies himself, and the only other remaining administrator has been busy with their career for some years now.

Finding their forums was a life-changing experience, but in the same vain about finding out about the dark side of the internet for the first time.

Offtopic, I like that icon a lot. Spiderfail, spiderfail, failing the way... a... spiderfail fails? I dunno, but I still like that icon.
