Honestly I've seen the same negative stereotypes in slash from both animanga and tv/film/comics/etc fandom a lot of the time. (Which is probably at least in part because that stuff is bleeding from one fandom to the other--I've definitely seen some seme/uke type stuff in the Harry Potter fandom for example.) And I've read good fic in both.

I think it's mostly just the case that the majority of fanfic out there is going to be pretty bad, regardless of fandom. Each fandom, regardless of the source, also has its own quirks and "culture" to it.
