Obviously, Ash and Pikachu need courage not only for the hard Pokemon battles ahead, but the courage to face down the authorities and naysayers when they tell them that the love between a boy and his pikachu is wrong. I can imagine Ash saying "Love is never wrong!" as Officer Jenny drags him away.

Ash helps Pikachu understand the power that's inside... HIS COCK. That's a little crude, I know, seeing as we are talking romantic love here and not some frantic, boyish fumblings on the road to Viridian City. But, still. Accurate, no doubt.
