Apparently some writer said that Merlin is supposed to be the universe in which Camelot went wrong or something. Literally they wanted it to be a spin on the tale that results in fail. What. The. Hell.

Uhhhhhh...that sounds like the kind of thing people should know before investing their time. Granted, if they had said that from the beginning they most likely wouldn't have had enough viewers to keep the show going, but really, what the fuck?

Yeah, that is either a lie or some BS they just made up. (I'd actually watch the fuck out of that show, but it would have to be generally darker and more adult oriented the whole time, which clearly was not what Merlin was going for).
