Aw. You know, I don't think that's such a bad thing? Granted, I stopped watching after the second season, but from what I have heard of the show since, it just needs to be put to death already. Giving the characters a fresh start, like reincarnation may be good, if they are not willing to just let the franchise go. Maybe they can fix everything that went horribly wrong in the characters' past in their modern lives - Merlin and Gaius' treatment of Morgan and such. And that Merlin revealed his magic to Arthur just before he died can be a source of drama in their new lives, if they remember the past. Of course, it would mean that they have never lived together the lives of the awesome king of the legend and his trusted adviser, but lol, I don't think that anyone who is still a fan of the show has a right to whine about inaccuracy. When I left the fandom it was full of bitching from all sides about how you shouldn't expect Merlin to be true to the legends, because omg, there's a talking dragon and beer cans and Merlin is young, so why do you think you have the right to expect that thing you're expecting?

This would be a good thing if I didn't have 100% faith in the fact that the actors are done with the show.
I believe this is the last series seeing as the knights are already booking new work.

While the series was being filmed the writers and bbc discussed the possibility making a series of films to be released next year. Films that would start from the beginning, showing other parts of the tale, perhaps from a different perspective. If those are made then I doubt anyone from the current series will act in it. And without Colin and Bradley I don't want it. I have no problems with reincarnation, I just want a magic reveal too. I don't see the point in hinting at "the golden age of camelot" being along the lines of 2012.

Oh, I didn't think of recasting.. That would indeed be a bad thing, because I think Colin's acting and the charisma of the other three were what made this show. But as for myself, I would love to see them doing other projects. Maybe Colin would finally start getting decent job opportunities. It would be good for him. Not so much for the Merlin fans, though. Sorry, if this is true.

Maybe they could do that thing where the heroes are brought into modern times, live there and then are brought back to the past to fix it and live happily ever after there? I seem to remember a lot of older shows doing that (like Xena, though I don't remember the exact details) and Merlin is kind of campy, it would fit the tone of the series.
