Irene tells John that he and Sherlock are a couple, and he says he's not gay. Her answer: "Well I am. Look at us both." He doesn't deny it.

I mean, it's not as clear as actually saying "we're both in love with him", but for anyone not requiring being beat over the head with the meanings of what people say, it's crystal clear.

And I'd give a shit about that scene if they had the balls to follow up on its implications. ALL of its implications. Not just having Irene talking about how much she wants to fuck Sherlock. Which, btw, she does IN FRONT OF JOHN, after saying they're a couple, and that John is in love with Sherlock. What a nice woman.

How would you prefer it to be followed up on? I thought John a) was repressing and b) convinced Sherlock isn't interested. What would you have him do?

If John is repressing, then, again, what was the point of that scene with Irene? It sure didn't make him stop repressing did it? So... why? Since it's has no actual effect on John and Sherlock's relationship, why was it there? What purpose does it serve?

It's using hints of gayness to show the audience how progressive it is, while also playing it as a joke and never actually going there with the central characters. And in the case of non-central Irene, her story relevant interests are het. But hey, she also does chicks, and that's hot.

So, yeah, no homo and queer baiting.

I don't know what sort of "effect" you think it should have on their relationship. They're grown men (especially John) who likely won't go around pining in the manner of a high school student.

The story is also far from finished. We don't actually know what may come of it yet.

That is really not what that scene is conveying, you know. It's an honest scene, an emotional scene where things were laid bare, most significantly from John. It doesn't matter what Irene said, it matters how John reacted to it.

But hey, if you didn't see it, nothing I say can make you change your mind.

Ya know what? Fuck that scene. When it comes to Molly, her attraction to Sherlock is painfully obvious in EVERY SCENE SHE'S IN. So why, with John, are we being asked to rely on one scene? That's bullshit. Give me other examples, ones outside that scene and outside that episode. And before you ask, "What are you looking for?" I'll point out that YOU'RE the one who's so sure that canon states John is in love with Sherlock, so it seems like you would have noticed them. So YOU tell ME.

When it comes to Molly, her attraction to Sherlock is painfully obvious in EVERY SCENE SHE'S IN. So why, with John, are we being asked to rely on one scene?

a) Because she's a very different person from John, and suck at hiding what she feels. Surely you're not suggesting that everyone shows their feelings the same way?

b) She's a woman, and there's no social stigma about showing her attraction to a man.

c) John doesn't want to admit his feelings even to himself. Why would he showcase them to Sherlock (or anyone)?

That scene is a glimpse of something hidden. Perhaps it will lead somewhere, perhaps not. It's not a storyline, it's an implication.
