I thought that too at first untl the "he's not a 14 year old girl on tumblr" because he is in that age, and he is... sort of on tumblr. An online crush wouldn't be ooc for him at all. Then again I'm sure there are John/Karkat haters who would disagree about that even if it makes no sense.

The fanbase is pretty varied, so you do kind of get that type of "irrefutable evidence of your teenage fangirl BIAS" from the older dudebro crowd. No offense to dudebros, I'm just saying there's that tendency to forget the actual ages of these characters who were basically raised by the internet.

I remember reading reading a bad pastebin porn fic, basically the ao3 of the 4chan dudebro, that was apparently Karkat/Terezi/Jade/Dave.

The Karkat/Dave bit was brief, and had all of the "ew, no homo" vibes from both ends.
