Transformers, actually. I didn't even really know much about fandom until I visited weepingcock on lj for laughs. I learned how fandoms worked through what people mocked there but never really got into any. Then people started posting quite a lot mocking the very concept of Transformers having sex, and I found it weird that fandom people would find anything weird. So eventually I wandered into the fandom myself, and liked it, and stayed.

I still didn't really ship anything at first -- while unlike the weepingcockians I didn't find it off-putting inherently, I wasn't really interested. But I did read fic that had sex in it, and I liked some of it. Before I knew it, I shipped Megatron/Optimus (before Exodus, so I shipped it before it was cool -- it was HILARIOUS when all the people who had thought it was the weirdest ship ever were suddenly twitterpated over it) and ended up RPing it with someone.

The rest was history.
