Aww, that's great. This kid in my university's GSA was so nervous about bringing up furry culture in a meeting. I think he should; it should be part of the group so we can dispute the stigmas, just like we do with stigmas of sexuality and gender.

Honestly I can't blame the guy. :< I could never admit it IRL. So much second hand embarrassment for so much of the fandom, and its still something even I don't really know why I like so much beyond a vague "but they're so aesthetically pleasing!"

Yeah, the big concern is that bringing it up in a LGBT meeting would further the stigma that being a furry is a purely sexual thing, but I disagree because that's saying that being LGBT is a purely sexual thing.

I understand it because, when you get right down to it, the T doesn't belong in there either: every other part of gay community is a question of sexuality while transgender issues are, of course, an issue of gender. So I don't think it's that odd to bring it up.
