FINALLY WATCHED HOT TUB TIME MACHINE

[personal profile] anonymouslyyours 2012-11-19 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Astonished by how pissed off it made me.

Worst part is off all the stupid bullshit the ending where bald dickbag becomes the founder of his own Google pissed me off the most. You can't just make a Google because you knew what it is before anyone else did.

Like... really? In a movie that included slut-shaming a little girl for something she will allegedly do in the future that's my takeaway?

Dumbest thing in a movie that upset you?

I couldn't sympathize with the Emperor the tiniest little smidgen during "The Last Emperor" after he threw his little pet mouse at the wall and killed it. I just gloated and laughed viciously at everything horrible about his life for the rest of the movie because of that.

I said dumb things that pissed you off. Mousder is a totally valid reason to hate a character.

Eh, in the context of the movie it was comparatively a pretty dumb reason to hate the character, which is why I thought of it. BUT I AGREE. And thanks for inventing that word for me :)

..Never watched it, but uh wow sounds like a winner. The slut-shaming of a little girl part makes me want to stay the fuck away.

Step 1: Decide to invent Google.

Step 2: ...?

Step 3: profit! \o/

See? what wasn't so hard!

Augh that fucking movie! My friends and I all sat down to watch it and they still rave about how funny it was. It wasn't funny, it was complete tripe!

Dumbest thing in a movie... I'm going to say Napoleon Dynamite. All of it.

A+ re: Napoleon Dynamite. Almost fell asleep in the theater (probably would have if I'd been more comfortable).

I am utterly baffled at that movie's popularity. It was boring and secondhand-embarrassment-inducing and really unsettling in the ugly bleakness of the characters' lives and personalities.

Me too. Everyone I know thinks it's the greatest, most hilarious thing ever, but when I tried to watch it I felt so horribly embarrassed and uncomfortable that I had to stop like 20 minutes in.

Augh this.

That movie was so damn boring my mother and I switched it off a quarter of the way through to watch Dr Phil instead.

I AGREE.

Oh god, I'm so happy. I tried watching it, and I felt like I had a horrible sense of humour because it was so incredibly unfunny.

+1 about Napoleon Dynamite. I just...didn't find it funny or endearing at all. There were a couple things I found amusing, but not much.

Yay, someone else who hates this film!

I first watched it with a couple of friends and they were laughing, but I was just sitting there going: "What? Why is this funny? These are all horrible people and I don't give a shit about them and I hope they die in a fire. WHEN IS IT OVER?"

Novel rather than movie

(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Not a movie, but I once had to read some of Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus novels for class. At the start of one of them, the detective double parks.

That was it for me. I didn't mind when he intimidated a witness to shut him up. But it turns out I cannot give a shit about a protaganist policeman who thinks he's above the rules of the road.
