hahaha, those poor babies, not having to worry about being tossed out on the street and living on nothing but bread and water for weeks, when you can eat at all. Furthermore, people don't actually hate the rich. It's the entitled attitude that the vocal (possibly minority, I don't know many rich people, and the few I do sadly enforce the stereotype) rich have, about ZOMG SOCIALISM and EVIL UNIONS and paying less taxes overall in the working class.

Also, I'm not a Christian by any means, but a lot of the wealthy Jesus freaks seem to forget that whole "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven."

TL;DR cry more, anon. My heart positively weeps for you and the people you're so poorly defending.

And yet, after reading this entire thread, no one has convinced me I should voluntarily give away money that I earned by working incredibly hard for decades. Tax me the bare minimum to keep society running and I'll be very generous to any number of charities, and I am, but that's it. You are all so self-righteous and superior about my money, my life and my goals and aspirations. No wonder the US is going off a cliff, if this is the attitude of so many. You are all take, take, take and take some more, no semblance of a work ethic involved. I came to this country for a better life for myself and my kids, and I've achieved it. I don't need you all to be so free with what is not yours to begin with.

Ahahaha, no, fuck you. That is not how it works. No one is an island. Society is made up of several cogs which are meant to keep the big wheel turning, at least in theory. Everyone should have enough. You want more? Go for it! But don't expect us to pat you on the back when you act every bit the stereotypical corporate tool most of us have come to expect from the upper classes.

Also, the US is not actually going off a cliff, by the way; you might want to do a teensy bit of research before you start talking out of your ass.
