(Anonymous) 2012-11-20 06:33 am (UTC)(link)It's actually pretty prevalent with Spamano, so I can see the OP's point. Unless one or both of them are shipped with other people, they're almost always at least a background pairing. It's arguably even worse than USUK, because both England and America have other popular ships with them, whereas Romano and Spain don't really have any (really popular ships, that is.)

If we're talking about the side pairing thing, I think it's absolutely a lot more prevalent with Spamano than USUK (for exactly the reasons you stated). USUK has a lot more fics with them as the MAIN pairing of course... but there's a lot more variance with those two characters when it comes to side pairings featured in fics.

Because of this, I can kind of understand OP's frustration, though not the magnitude of it.
