I got so distracted reading the secret, and was all, yeah, they're kissing. Not-so-sub-text-y, anon, but hey! They're just really, really close.

I think most anyone that stars in a Tarantino film has a sense of humor about what's going on and playing up some crack pairings or other subtext seems pretty par for the course.

Wait. This is just a known thing, isn't it? i.e., Tarantino intended one possible reading of the film to be this, and Keitel and Roth took it into account in their performances. Chris Penn and Michael Madsen's characters can also be read like that - the whole film is about men's relationships with men...
