Brilliant, OP. Have an Internet and a pile of lembas.

Me too.

I've been playing a lot of Dragon Age recently and now I have been starting to catch myself saying "Maker's breath!" as well.

That's both adorable and awesome. Rock on.

I don't do this as a habit, but I have done this a few times. Sort of. I've also prayed using that poem when I was younger...forgot about that...

I should start doing this. Thanks, OP!

Fair enough.
elaminator: (Lord of the Rings: Legolas)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-11-21 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I like you. Also, that's adorable. (And much more unique and creative, haha.)

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
If I've been reading a lot of Star Wars fic, I start to use the fanon slang- Oh Force instead of Oh my God, Sith instead of shit, etc

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
It probably makes me a terrible person, but the only reason I know about the word "Elbereth" is NetHack.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
If I didn't actually have an online friend who used "Eru" in her posts I would think this was a troll. Good on you, though, anon!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I should start doing that.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
You are my hero!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Excessive Wheel of Time reading can have this effect on me. Also, I picked up 'Gods!' somewhere and I can't stop saying it even though I know it's pretentious as hell :\

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I sill use Faranth in a wide variety of oaths, to the point that it's reflexive.

Ah, I don't think that's WTF: it's sort of ... dunno what word to use - cute? sweetly geeky?

But entirely okay.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
And I have read my fair share of stories where that phrase is uttered at a moment of passion...

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Do not ever, ever feel ashamed, OP.

I'm a Neopagan who is at this very moment wearing a seven-pointed Elven Star pendant and has in complete seriousness and faith sung the hymn "A Elbereth Gilthoniël" (in terrible Sindarin but with reverence ;D).

So, you're not alone! :D

Dear OP, I am wearing my Evenstar pendant and logged into my Aragorn account just to tell you that you made my day.

Let me embrace you, OP. You're adorable! Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with that. I mean it's just how you are.

If it makes you feel any better, I use the phrase Noy Jitat in public and privately when particularly vexed. Also, brownies to anyone that remembers where that phrase came from.

I picked up using "ye gods!" from Pratchett god knows how many years ago and can't stop, ahah.

*g* Ever since getting into A:TLA and reading tons of fanfic I've started saying "Spirits!".

I started saying "Oh my Ra!" or "Oh my Gods!", because I really like Ancient Egypt, but after a while when I noticed that it pissed fundamentalist Christians off, I just kept saying it out of spite.
wingedthing: (Applejack pleased)

I'm pretty happy to admit that "Merlin's beard!" is part of my vocabulary, personally.

Not alone!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I do this sometimes! I also might have picked up "Sweet Cuiviénen" from fic (though I had to look up the spelling...) .
