(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 01:45 am (UTC)(link)Wow. I like you, call me young again.
On topic, this sounds complicated. How does one even start this monster of a project.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 01:55 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, he doesn't even do much of the art anymore. No music. Just writing.

Also he never did any of the music, so that's kind of a moot point.

Anyways, if you're referring to how the artist/author started Homestuck, he had a number of smaller scale webcomics before this one. Two ended up incomplete, and the third finished up around 1000 something pages. It used some animated GIF pages on occasion, but nothing huge and flashy. And even with Homestuck it started out small. A small flash panel here, a thirty second animation there... and several years later you end up with 13 min videos and full 8-bit RPG minigame walkaround.
If you're referring to how a fan gets into it, you just start on page one and power through.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 02:58 am (UTC)(link)He also says he simplified the art as much as he could to save time, which is why most of the panels look... like they look.
Also, I think this is the first time I've seen a positive reaction towards "Let me tell you about Homestuck". And certainly the first time somebody sounds actually pleased at being linked to a video!
Anon, you are quite something else. C:

(Anonymous) 2012-11-21 04:15 am (UTC)(link)Actually, I don't understand why someone would react unpleasantly to someone else's enthusiasm for something they like. I mean, it's not your thing, just don't read, but, damn it all, isn't it nice to watch someone enjoy something?

Isome people didn't realize that at first and ended up having to backtrack.no subject

Oh wait I forgot that most pages have text links not little arrows but I'm sure you know what I meant. I am kind of sleep-deprived right now lol

This story is big and long and it starts slow because of world building. Some say that's a flaw. I disagree, but most agree that if you read that far, you'll have gotten the full feel of this comic. If you still don't like it, don't bother going further.
I say this cause a lot of people give up around, say, page 30, get told "no keep going" and the ones who actually do admit they end up liking it after all.
Of course, if you legit don't like it, no point in torturing yourself. Hence the need for a reference point to be the litmus test on if you are in or not.
