how do you deal with being in a small fandom? i tend to hang out in fandoms that are either enormous with lots of activity or some form of inactive, dying, and scattered.

currently, i'm in love with a fandom with barely 30 fanfics on fanfiction.net (eleven of which i've written myself), no active LJs and a tiny presence on tumblr.

You might want to check out AO3 since ff.net and LJ are dying out and tumblr is the worst possible way to find fanfic.

i always forget to check AO3 because i don't have an account but i'll look since small fandoms seem to pop up there.

Most of my fandoms were tiny, and I know just how frustrating it can be. I dealt with it by nominating them for every eligible fic exchange going (Yuletide especially)
It's not easy, but if you promote your fandom at every available opportunity, then this will eventually spark some interest. :-)

when does yuletide start? i'm sure i missed it this year though, but i'd love to participate.

Sign ups are closed this year now, but you can find out more by following the yuletide comm on LJ. If you catch it early enough you can even nominate your own fandoms for next year. (Nominations start October time, I think.)

well, first up maybe share the name of the fandom around to garner interest?

I tend to draw fanart, be more likely to reblog stuff from it, set up xmas exchanges, write fanfic. Anything to get people to look at it and check out the original source themselves.
