What's the gender of the character in the top part of the picture?

Also, what's this show about? The art looks really nice.

The character in the top is male.

If you enjoy the art (it's done by Yoshihiko Umakoshi)you should check another show by the same artist, Casshern Sins. The one in the secret is just a kids show so don't expect that much (it's not bad though), but Casshern Sins in really good.

Saint Seiya Omega...

What is about... it's hard to say. If you ask a Saint Seiya fan, it's the most horrible thing ever made. If you don't know what Saint Seiya is... Omega can be seen as a sort of nice shonen series

Is it really that awful?

(I er, haven't even gotten around to watching Lost Canvas yet.)

To me, anything that creates curiosity about the original manga/series is worth something just for that alone.

I have heard it called 'Precure Omega'. And it's... weird. It doesn't quite follow the myths of the original, it's not a sequel, but rather a spinoff, and the choices for the gold saints have been... weird. But do watch it if you're a fan of the original. See how much you can stand ;)

I'd agree about the 'anything that brings back interest in the original -in Japan- is good'... but then I met Gemini Paradox. YEARS of waiting for a female gold saint to get... THAT... ugh.


Then again, I live in a country where Saint Seiya (the original) is pretty much THE most famous anime of all times, so there's always curiosity about the original series and thus, my experience, and the corner of the fandom I talk to, is quite different from the rest of the world.

(Do watch Lost Canvas. It's gorgeous. My only complain is the lack of diversity with the Gold Saints' designs because I don't think that reincarnation means = you look exactly the same as the previous incarnation)

Lost Canvas is bad. Worse than Omega. Dull characters, obnoxious Gold Saint wanking and it goes off the rail as it starts introducing absolutely ridiculous plot points like Mayan ALIEN Gods.

Funny. Most of Lost Canvas's weird plot points come from fandom in general, as the author was a member of the japanese fandom. But in any case, I think it's better than Omega. At least, Lost Canvas doesn't have maho shojo style jewelry.

*nods* I am aware of the less-than usual situation regarding US Saint Seiya fans (i.e., so few ... TYVM Knights of the Zodiac >.< ) - I don't know of many other fandoms on, say, FFnet that have almost 90% of their stories posting in other than English.

Yes, oh yes, I am well aware of the gorgeous that is LC ( points to Shion icon) ... I watched the first few episodes and some bits here and there with Shion, Hakurei, and Yuzuriha and ... well, I got lower lip trembles. Which is generally a harbinger of massive fangirling.)

Shion... I adore Shion. Especially in Lost Canvas when he gets to be other than 'wise, wise old saint who's going to die in the most heartbreaking way EVER'.

Ah well, after having asked for Saint Seiya in every Yuletide since 2005, I've finally given up.

I was sort of thrown by the characterizations of shion and Dohko in LC, tbh, since their just the opposite of how I've always though of "Aries and Libra" ... but canon is canon, no matter how much it Josses my fics. :p

Oh, Shion and Dohko is one of my very few actual OTPs (which I differentiate from " 'ships where you sorta kinda like the two together") ... but ShiDo (along with Basara) seem to have stymied Yuletiders on a yearly basis.

Dohko and Shion are my OTP too! I adore them together, and I still haven't forgiven Dohko for not turning around to see Shion one last time in Hades...

I doubt Paradox is the only female Gold Saint in Omega, tho. I'm 99% sure Pavlin, who easily overshadows every single female character in the both Lost Canvas and the original, will return as Aquarius.
