Places to find lost/obscure songs?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-24 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Where's a good place to ask about impossible-to-find songs?

I'm thinking I want a more uptempo cover of Russ Ballard's "Hey Bernadette"--because the lyrics seem like what I remember but RB's song is all wrong in sound--but I haven't been able to find any covers of that damn song.

Male vocals, English language, the name Bernadette was definitely repeated throughout, and it was really fast, upbeat, and made great driving music. Played on FM radio station (possibly a college station; possibly a ska, punk, alternative station) on the drive between Hattiesburg, MS and New Orleans in February 2010. Possibly a cover done by a local NOLA or coastal MS band.

It's definitely NOT:

The Colorblind James Experience, "Hey Bernadette"
Paul Simon, "Bernadette"
Four Tops, "Bernadette"
The Kinks, "Bernadette"
Vic Chestnutt, "Bernadette"
"Song of Bernadette"
Talk Talk, "Pictures of Bernadette"
Gruppo Sportivo, "Bernadette"
Pat Boone, "Oh Bernadine"
Tabaz'n'Cow, "Bernadette"
TheAmplid, "Bernadette"
Joe Jack, "Bernadette"
On Holiday, "Bernadette"
any version of "Bernadette C'Est My 'Tit Creole"
Bumblefoot, "Bernadette"
Eric Hutchinson, "OK, It's Alright With Me" (although I love this one)
Skaliners - Bernadette

[profile] whatwasthatone might work, if you're willing to try on Livejournal.

I don't know, sorry, but I've always had really good luck asking over at the whatwasthatone comm on Livejournal. Maybe try there if no one here knows?

Problem is, it might be a remix. Which means you are never gonna find it based on lyrics.

Your best bet is to type in " Russ Ballard Hey Bernadette" on the Youtube search bar and just check out each remix listed until you find it.

Does anyone know where to find an up-tempo, pop-rock cover/remix of "Falling" by Florence & The Machine?
