Okay, so, for NaNoWriMo, I've been writing about a boy band reuniting, and I'm working on two timelines--the first is the "present", when they're getting everyone together and hashing out the details of their regrouping, and the other is in the past, with their rise and fall. During the past portions I'm going to be talking about them at the height of their fame, complete with screaming, shrieking, crying fans.

What I need, then, are stories about fans doing all manner of ridiculous, silly, crazy things to get to this group. Because while I was a huge fan of some pop groups, I was relatively calm in my fandom. I'm talking stories about sneaking onto tour buses, breaking into hotel rooms, or giving strange presents to the star of their choice. So what's the weirdest/strangest/funniest/most horrifying fangirl story that you know of?

You gotta include the gifting of used sanitary pads/things written in menstrual blood.

Ewww, I remember that! Didn't some fangirl do that for 2PM? It was a boyband I didn't care much for. But when I read the story I almost threw up.

NA

Them, or some other band. Though the thing I remember the most was the other fans sneering over that not being hardcore enough.

I have heard tales that someone in the One Direction fandom either hacked security cameras in an airport or otherwise nefariously gained access to footage of a couple of them sitting around quietly doing nothing for a while. I don't know how true this is bc I've only seen stills from the footage and heard the story, and it might not be about meeting them face-to-face, but if true I do think this is super disturbing.

Someone in the Ben Drowned fandom once wrote a graphic BEN/Jad rapefic, and either they or someone else thought it would be a great idea to show it to Jadusable himself. Yeah. End result: a creator turned off to shipping, permanently. So sad :(

There are a lot of stories that have come out of the various kpop fandoms I'm either in or familiar-ish with. Whereabouts on the funny-horrifying scale are you looking? Cause, of course, horrifying always comes to mind faster.

Super Junior fandom has the famous episode where a girl was lucky enough to get a picture taken with one of the members (I don't remember who) and the crazier members of the fandom ended up supposedly driving her to suicide. Then there are stories out of various fandoms of "fans" doing things like crashing their cars into ones carrying the stars to cause accidents or jumping out in front of cars so that the stars will have to pay them money and/or take them to the hospital.

There's also a bunch of home-invasion stories. DBSK this time. One of the members supposedly woke up to find a girl standing next to his bed. Another had the security cameras in his parking garage hacked and/or spy cameras put up so they could track his movements 24/7.

Then there's the "anti-fans" who occasionally try to kill people or ruin them somehow. One of the DBSK members ended up with a drink laced with superglue from one such incident.

People in the Take That fandom in the nineties did some pretty crazy stuff. They still do today, but back then it was nuts.

They found out where they all lived and used to stand outside their houses, day and night, even calling through the letterbox (I believe one of them said they used to set the alarm off constantly).

One of them snuck into Mark Owen's garden and put a ladder up to his bedroom window... They also used to do TT-related graffiti over the back wall of his Mum's garden too, which the neighbours hated his family for.

Someone also stood outside Gary Barlow's bedroom window and invited him to her little brother's birthday party.

Ooh, and they used to look up their surnames in the phonebook and call people to ask if they were related. I think they had an article about that in the official magazine, with the boys basically begging fans not to do it.

What, no one's mentioned the girl who mixed her hair into brownies for Panic! at the Disco yet?

Whaaaat? Did she tell them about the hair when she handed them over?

No, they found out about it when they cut into it.

A celebrity in a fandom I'm in once said she got a custom-made pantsuit from a fan that fit perfectly. I wondered for ages how said fan knew her exact size and measurements.

Reportedly, some fans of another celebrity in the same fandom found out where her children went to school and showed up at the school from out of state, posing as parents and peeking in classroom windows to see if her kids were in there. Only I'm pretty sure that they were adults.

Well, there was kind of a nortorious fan in the BBC Sherlock fandom that, from what I've heard, did some pretty crazy shit when Benedict Cumberpatch was in a stage play.

Back in the '70's (I KNOW, FOREVER AGO, BUT WE STILL HAD BOY BANDS), one of my friends and her friends would dress up literally in the same outfits worn as the band members, and would stalk them throughout the southern United States area, following them from concert to concert. The roadies kind of got used to them showing up and would let them come into the concert halls. "If you stay quiet and don't scream or try to talk to anyone," they were allowed to sit up in the nosebleed seats and watch the band do set up and practices and stuff.

Well, one afternoon, they were leaving said practice/tune up session, and a bunch of girls were waiting outside to see if they could spot the band. Again, my friend and her friends were dressed in the band outfits, and had their hair cuts similar, etc. They were spotted by the girls - who screamed the band's name and started chasing my friend and her friends - and they wound up trying to escape a bunch of ravening girl fans, until said fans finally realized, "Oh, wait, those are girls!"

Isn't it? When my friend was telling me the story, she got very upset with me literally rolling on the floor and laughing hysterically (after a time, I couldn't even breathe), and she kept insisting it was terrifying, 'you weren't there! Those girls would've ripped us apart!'

...which only made me whoop harder.

This is beautiful! Because lesboerotic overtones, the unintended passable cross dressing, and fans getting to feel the terror of having a fanbase.

It was far too funny to me, though my friend was less than amused at my delight in her story.

If I can remember correctly, there was this story about when the Backstreet Boys were at the height of their success. Some fans were able to sneak past hotel security and knew which floor the Boys were on. I forget the story completely, something like they snuck into one or a few of the Boys' rooms and Howie and Brian locked Nick out in the hallway in nothing but his boxers and he was pounding on the door in embarrassment as security took the girls back to the elevator. I just remember something about two or three fans sneaking onto the Boys' floor and Nick was stuck in the hallway with his boxers.

Brian also has admitted that when there were a lot of fans at hotels they were staying at they would throw Nick out of the bus first so the fans would swarm Nick and the rest of them could go into the hotel first.
Brian also said once he bought a brand new jacket and he was wearing it when they got off a bus and the fans tore that jacket apart.

I also remember this weird story a girl shared online. It was at a concert and a lot of the fans were swarming the place and the Backstreet Boys were still on their bus. The girl telling the story and her friend saw Howie sitting in the bus so they and a bunch of the girls were climbing onto the bus, screaming. At the time there was a running joke that Howie was secretly gay so the storyteller's friend breathed onto the window where Howie was seated to fog it up and wrote out "GA" but before her friend could finish it with a "Y" she stopped her friend. She wrote something like, "I don't know why I stopped her. Maybe I felt bad for him in that moment." That's all I really remember from the story.

I'm pretty sure there were a lot more, but I can't really remember them anymore. I was never a part of the crazy fan encounters during the huge BSB days, but I read a lot of them since that was all I had. LOL
