Absolutely this.

Whenever I see Hetalia fans with this attitude, their "superior headcanon" is usually a serious take on antropomorphic countries with lots of angst, death, a more accurate way of handling serious issues etc. If that's what they like, they can go ahead and have fun with it, but they shouldn't claim it's better than canon because Hetalia is a gag manga and not meant to be anything else.
